Last April 30, 2004, Dr. Bernardo M. Villegas' group visited the Informatica Technology Center (ITC) in Maharlika Village, Taguig, to receive a briefing on the Center's four (4) programs which are awaiting formal registration under the Unified TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). PCFC to Close Project With CODESPA 56 training runs
 
More than 200 MFIs have participated in PCFC ‘s Codespa-AECI Assisted microfinance (MF) capacity building programs. This exceeded the project’s target beneficiaries of 176 MF Institutions. The project entitled “Apoyo a los Programas de Microfinanciacion de Filipinas” will have completed close to 60 training runs by December 2003, covering subject areas aimed to improve the management and operation of MFI partners and potential partners of PCFC, and PCFC’s own capacity building.
 
As of August 30, 2003, or five semesters into the term of the project, there were 48 trainings conducted for microfinance institutions covering around 800 participants from among them. Meanwhile, forteen (14) trainings were conducted inside PCFC to strengthen its various departments.
 
MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS :
 
Bank Management Course
The Bank Management Course, the lengthiest training provided to PCFC partners was held last May 2003. It was envisioned to develop, hone and update banking competencies of top management participants coming from PCFC accredited micro finance lending institutions. Each course is a two week live-in seminar conducted in two batches. After year- long preparations, the training of the first batch finally ran from May 5-16, 2003 and the second batch from May 19-30, 2003. more >>
  
Nationwide Fora on Microfinance Best Practices
A nationwide fora on microfinance best practices was held last September 11, on the occasion of PCFC’s eight founding anniversary. The event brought together for the first time all program partners of PCFC from the three major island groups of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, in one forum entitled “Microfinance Evolution: Philippine Experience --Lessons Learned and Successful Practices”. The event was presided by leading researchers in the academia i.e. Ms. Marcia Feria Miranda of Punla sa Tao Foundation and Prof. Ronald T. Chua of the Asian Institute of Management Center for Development Management. more >>
