Codespa-Asia is a private, non-stock, non-profit organization that has grown out of Fundación Codespa's development activities in Asia. Fundación Codespa itself is a Spanish NGO that was founded in 1985 by a group of Spanish businessmen and university professors and like Codespa-Asia seeks to improve the living standards of disadvantaged individuals and communities in developing countries.

Codespa-Asia, with its regional mandate, will continue to develop and geographically expand the work of Fundación Codespa by financing and managing projects in the fields of microfinance, vocational training and rural development with the aim of generating quality employment.

Codespa-Asia shall also seek to develop long-term collaborations with its partners in order to build institutional competence to increase their autonomy, financial independence and strengthen their decision-making capabilities.
